Heater Batting Cage With Pitching Machine, Product Overview
If you are anything like me, you are constantly on the lookout for ways to improve your kid’s (and your!) skills any way you can.
Having the ability to walk out in your backyard to get some extra batting practice in any time you want is a major advantage, and with the Heater Batting Cage With Pitching Machine Combo it has never been easier or more affordable than it is now.
Whether you are a beginner just starting out on your baseball journey, or the seasoned pro who’s been playing the game your entire life, having your own batting cage and pitching machine in the backyard is a great way to improve your batting skills and stay on top of your game year round.
Features
HomeRun Batting Cage
Cage Size: The HomeRun batting cage included in this combo pack measures 12′ long x 12′ wide x 10′ high. I really like the 12′ width inside the cage as it offers plenty of room for your swing without hitting the net.
Netting and Frame: The HomeRun batting cage is made with a very durable 1 1/4″ poly netting and Duraflex fiberglass poles that make up the frame. You can leave the cage set up year round, or if you prefer, it’s easy to break down for storage.
The net has a 12″ x 12″ cut-out so you can set the pitching machine up right in front of it, plug it in, and start batting.
The set up is very simple and easy, but I do suggest you have at least one other person to help.
The Starting Pitcher Pitching Machine
Speed: The Starting Pitching Machine can pitch balls at speeds up to 40 MPH.
Balls: This machine throws soft lite-balls and lite balls.
Auto Feeder: This is one of my favorite features with this set up. You can load up the auto feeder with up to 12 balls and it will deliver a pitch around every 5 seconds.
The pitching head of the machine sits on a tripod and has a nice pivot feature for easy pitch location adjustment. The fully enclosed wheel makes it completely safe to operate.
The Starting Pitcher is a plug in machine, so you will need an extension cord and a standard 110 outlet power source.
While you can purchase a cover for the machine, I suggest bringing it inside for storage when not in use.
Have Fun Inside
At only 12′ long, The HomeRun batting cage fits nicely in your garage or basement.
Even with 9′ ceilings in the garage, we were able to set it up between the rafters without much difficulty. You will need to find somewhere to anchor the tie lines, as the missed pitches and hits against the net will move the cage slightly with each hit.
In home or basement set up will be a little more difficult, especially with finished ceilings. My idea for this will be to use 4 cinder blocks for the tie lines on the corners. Space will probably be an issue, but I would really like to use it during the winter months.
There is some difficulty involved with setting it up inside, but the payoff is that you will be able to get your batting practice in, even when it’s raining or snowing outside.
All in all, I found the Trend Sports Starting Pitcher Pitching Machine and HomeRun Batting Cage combo to be an unbeatable deal.
I’m not sure how long the pitching machine and batting cage will be offered as a combo, but at this price it really is a great buy.

A Great Pitching Machine
The Jugs Lite-Flite Pitching Machine is my #1 recommended pitching machine.
This pitching machine is a completely portable, go anywhere machine that gives you all the features you will need for a complete practice and workout.
The Jugs Pitching Machine gives you the option to go cordless, or plug into a standard outlet. This is an awesome feature that allows you to set up virtually anywhere and get some batting practice in!
It also easily converts from baseball to softball and has the ability to throw a variety of pitches including curve balls, fast balls, sliders, and change ups
A Radar Gun Too?
The Pocket Radar Ball Coach is my #1 recommended radar gun.
The pocket ball coach is much more than a simple radar gun. It has features that allow you to focus all of your real time efforts on coaching.
It easily attaches to a tripod mount that allows you to go completely hands free.
It will record pitch speeds that allow you to review training sessions at a later time.
There is a constant on mode that records up to 25 of your last pitch speeds.
And yes, it fits in your pocket 🙂
As you consider what kind of batting cage you are going to buy, keep in mind what kind of space you have available. Take a minute to measure the space you have in mind; you don’t want your new cage system to arrive, only to find out it won’t fit.
